Ram Mandir Ayodhya Marks First Anniversary: How 'Surya Tilak' Technology Was Developed Without Any Electronics

The "Surya Tilak" ceremony was a unique setup, ensuring that sunlight precisely focused on the forehead of the Ram Lalla idol at the temple.

Ayodhya is marking the first anniversary of the Ram Temple, which was inaugurated on January 22, 2024, with a grand "Pran Pratishtha" ceremony. The event, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, holds a special place in the hearts of millions, symbolising a significant moment in Indian cultural and spiritual history.

Since its inauguration, the temple has drawn countless devotees and tourists, turning Ayodhya into a vibrant hub of faith and cultural activity. The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra recently wrapped up the "Pratishtha Dwadashi Mahotsav," a festival celebrating one year of Ram Lalla's installation in the temple's sanctum sanctorum.

Technology Behind ‘Surya Tilak’ Ritual

One of the highlights of the temple's inauguration was the "Surya Tilak" ceremony, where sunlight was precisely focused on the forehead of the Ram Lalla idol.

This ritual, symbolising the blessings of the Sun God, utilised an intricate optomechanical system developed by scientists from the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) in Roorkee.

The system employs a combination of lenses and mirrors to direct sunlight through an aperture into the temple's sanctum. An infrared filter, made from heat-absorbing material, prevents excessive heat from affecting the idol.

The innovation, free of batteries or electronic components, ensures longevity and manual operability for years to come.

State-of-the-Art Security Measures

Technological innovations were not only limited to the 'Surya Tilak' ceremony.

To ensure safety at the temple, advanced surveillance systems were implemented across Ayodhya. Over 10,000 CCTV cameras, some equipped with AI technology, monitor the site, while multilingual police officers trained in soft skills ensure smooth management during peak times.

The temple's security also featured cutting-edge equipment, including X-ray baggage scanners and Under Vehicle Scanning Systems (UVSS) provided by Vehant Technologies. These devices are capable of detecting concealed weapons, explosives, and hazardous materials, ensuring the safety of visitors.

Blend Of Tradition, Technology

As Ayodhya celebrates this landmark year, the Ram Temple stands as a testament to the fusion of tradition and innovation. From the spiritual significance of the "Surya Tilak" to the adoption of modern security technology, the temple exemplifies a harmonious blend of faith and progress.

This anniversary serves not only as a reminder of the temple's cultural importance but also as a symbol of India's ability to integrate ancient rituals with cutting-edge advancements.
