PM Narendra Modi Harnesses AI Tech For Interacting In Telugu On X

PM Narendra Modi, during a public address in Jagtial on Monday, expressed his desire to harness artificial intelligence (AI) technology to interact with the people in Telugu.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a public address in Jagtial, in the state of Telangana on Monday, expressed his desire to harness artificial intelligence (AI) technology to interact with the people in Telugu. According to news agency ANI, PM Modi was quoted as saying: "With the help of technology I wish to talk to you in Telugu. But for this, you all will have to do one thing which is to check the Namo in Telugu site on X."

During his public address in Jagtial, PM Modi said: "With the help of technology I wish to talk to you in Telugu. But for this, you all will have to do one thing which is to check the Namo in Telugu site on X."

"I want to speak with you in Telugu. Go to social media site 'X' and type 'Namo in Telugu' handle and you'll find me giving speeches in Telugu language," the PM was quoted as saying.

This comes at a time when there are conversations about the implications of artificial intelligence and simulated content and concerns have risen about robot takeovers, ethical considerations, job displacement, and financial fraud. Also, amidst what some have dubbed "super elections," AI is prominently shaping campaigning efforts.

Meanwhile, Alphabet-owned company Google has said that its AI chatbot, Gemini, will no longer respond to inquiries concerning global elections this year. This decision is aimed at averting potential errors in technology application amid escalating worries over misinformation. The decision comes in response to mounting apprehensions about the proliferation of fake news and misinformation, fueled by the progress in generative AI technology, notably in image and video generation.

Also, an official blog post from Google mentioned that the tech giant is dedicated to help in the election process by providing voters with top-notch information, protecting its platforms from misuse and assisting individuals in navigating AI-generated content. Notably, millions of people in India are eligible voters.

Facebook parent Meta also said last momnth that it is building tools that can identify invisible markers at scale -- specifically, the “AI generated” information in the C2PA and IPTC technical standards -- so that it can label images from Google, OpenAI, Microsoft, Adobe, Midjourney as well as Shutterstock as they implement their plans for adding metadata to images created by their tools.
