Meta Threads Might Soon Release TweetDeck-Like Pinned Column Feature
Additionally, users have the option to set all columns, except the algorithmic 'For You' column, to auto-update, ensuring that new posts appear promptly as they are posted on the platform.
Meta's text-focused chat platform Threads is experimenting with a new interface reminiscent of TweetDeck on the Web. This move is aimed at attracting more influential users to its platform, challenging Elon Musk's X (formerly Twitter). Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed on May 16 that the social media giant is trialling pinned columns on the web. Instagram head Adam Mosseri elaborated in a post on Threads, explaining that this feature allows users to pin separate columns for their preferred searches, tags, accounts, saved posts, and notifications.
As per reports, users can also pin the chronological 'Following' feed, as well as likes, profiles, and various activities on the platform such as replies, follows, mentions, quotes, reposts, and posts from verified individuals. Additionally, users have the option to set all columns, except the algorithmic 'For You' column, to auto-update, ensuring that new posts appear promptly as they are posted on the platform. This addresses a common user complaint about Threads not displaying posts in real-time, unlike its competitor X.
It's worth noting that Threads introduced a real-time 'Following' Feed in July last year, but users couldn't set it as the default feed. Consequently, individuals were frequently directed to the algorithmic 'For You' feed upon opening the platform on the web or mobile, which primarily showcased older posts.
Threads Rolls Out Recent Tab
Adam Mosseri, recently announced that the platform is rolling out a new "Recent" tab within user searches. This feature aims to streamline the process of finding timely and pertinent content on Instagram. While search results continue to undergo quality assessments, users can now view them in chronological order, as highlighted by Mosseri.
The Threads' pinned columns experiment arrived approximately nine months following Elon Musk's rebranding of TweetDeck as X Pro. The revamped social media dashboard is now behind a paywall, exclusively accessible to subscribers of X Premium, the platform's premium subscription service.
