Birdwatch Or Community Notes: This Is What Started An Argument Between Musk And Dorsey On Twitter

Elon Musk, the new Twitter boss has said that Twitter's Birdwatch feature will be renamed to "Community Notes" which gave way to an argument between Musk and Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey.

Elon Musk, the new Twitter boss has said that Twitter's Birdwatch feature will be renamed to "Community Notes" which gave way to an argument between Musk and Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey. Dorsey took on Musk over the micro-blogging platform's new feature and its vision.

Billionaire and Twitter chief Musk has mentioned that the platform needs to be the most accurate source of information globally. "Twitter needs to become by far the most accurate source of information about the world. That's our mission," Musk tweeted.

Twitter co-founder Dorsey replied to Musk: "accurate to who", thus, giving way to a verbal tussle between the two. Dorsey insisted that Birdwatch, which is set to be renamed to Community Notes is a "far better name".

"I still think…Birdwatch is a far better name..  And “more informative” a far better goal," Dorsey tweeted.

Taking the verbal tussle to another level, Musk said: “Birdwatch gives me the creeps” and invited a sharp response from Dorsey who wrote: “Community notes is the most boring Facebook name ever.”

Musk's $44 billion acquisition of Twitter turned into chaos after he fired most of the company's top executives and the board, and quickly embarked on a plan to lay off roughly half of the micro-blogging platform's 7,500 employees. His goal is to remake the social network into a profitable one that stands for free speech. But in his haste, Musk has rattled advertisers, regulators and many of the most ardent tweeters, says a report by news agency Bloomberg.

Meanwhile, India's Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has criticised the decision by Musk-run Twitter to sack its employees in India, saying that they should have been given a "fair time for transition". Vaishnaw's reaction, first reported by Business Standard, came as Musk fired about half of Twitter's workforce globally, including nearly 150-180 employees in India.
