Google Docs Can Now Talk: Gemini AI Will Turn Your Text Into Podcasts

Google Docs will soon let users generate full audio versions of their documents or create podcast-style summaries that highlight key points.

Google is taking a bold leap into the audio era by turning your written documents into spoken-word podcasts, all thanks to its latest Gemini AI upgrade. As part of a sweeping update across its Workspace suite, the tech giant is introducing powerful AI features that promise to reshape how we create, share, and absorb information.

The headliner? Google Docs will soon let users generate full audio versions of their documents or create podcast-style summaries that highlight key points. It’s a feature aimed squarely at professionals drowning in text and looking for smarter ways to multitask.

Docs, But Make It a Podcast

“Soon, you'll be able to create full audio versions of your documents or choose podcast-style overviews for the key highlights,” Google announced in a blog post, revealing one of the most attention-grabbing features in its latest AI rollout.

Whether it’s lengthy reports, project proposals, or sprawling blog drafts, Gemini AI will now help convert them into digestible audio content. The move not only caters to users who prefer listening over reading but also opens up new accessibility and productivity options, especially for remote teams and on-the-go professionals.

The same AI assistant will also help refine written content by suggesting edits for tone, clarity, and structure. And for those too pressed for time to scroll through pages, Gemini can summarise documents into neat, takeaway-ready nuggets.

Sheets Gets Smarter, No Formulas Needed

While Docs gets the audio spotlight, Google Sheets is also undergoing a transformation. Users can now ask Gemini natural-language questions like “Show sales trends for Q1” or “Forecast revenue for next quarter,” and get instant insights, charts, and summaries — without touching a single formula.

This means more time analysing, less time formatting — a big win for busy teams that need answers fast.

Meetings That Note Themselves

On Google Meet, Gemini AI is taking over note-taking duties. From auto-generating meeting summaries to capturing action items and assigning follow-ups, the AI aims to let participants stay engaged instead of scribbling furiously.

“It’s a smarter way to keep meetings efficient and outcomes clear,” said Google.

Stronger Security With AI on Watch

Google is also enhancing security across Workspace, with AI now helping detect and block potential threats in real-time. These updates offer a proactive shield, reducing the need for manual oversight and boosting overall compliance.

The new AI-powered features are rolling out now, with broader availability expected in the coming months. As Google puts it: “As AI reshapes our world, we’re focused on making powerful technology genuinely useful and accessible, and bringing it into the flow of your everyday work.”
