It’s time to take to the track and field for the Para Athletics event." The themes for today's Google Doodle are Sports, the Summer Games, and the Paralympics.

In today's Google Doodle, three Paralympic themed birds were seen competing for the win on a tricycle. The birds were seen rotating the wheels of their vehicle with full force to drive it at their maximum speed.

The word “athlete” comes from the Greek terms “Athlos” and “Athlon,” which translate to “one who competes for a prize.” Evidence of organised athletic competitions in ancient Greece can be found in the 23rd book of Homer’s Iliad, where Achilles holds funeral games to honour his deceased companion, slain by Hector in the Trojan War.
The contemporary Olympic Games have their origins in these early Greek sporting events. Historians often trace the beginnings of athletics back to the 9th century BC, with running, jumping, and throwing events being some of the earliest forms of sport, potentially dating back to prehistoric times.
