This update brings a revamped interface as well as additional features, with a focus on enhancing synchronisation and overall user experience for individuals using iPhones and iPads. Apple's redesigned iCloud app for Windows is compatible with Windows 10 and 11 OS, features a revamped setup experience to simplify onboarding.

Also, it includes a syncing status indicator for various services, providing clearer feedback on the number of items downloaded or uploaded. The update brings the following:

  • Support for secure sign-ins with physical keys
  • Reduced sign-in prompts
  • Better performance for syncing photos with Microsoft Photos
  • Clear status updates on syncing progress
  • Quick access shortcuts to iCloud content

Furthermore, users now have the option to use a physical security key for signing into their Apple ID accounts. Moreover, the enhanced app minimises the frequency of sign-in prompts, enhances photo-syncing performance with Microsoft Photos, and provides convenient shortcuts to access various other Apple services.

To recall, last September, Apple revamped iCloud.com, adding functionalities such as browser notifications for Mail and Calendar on PC, a customisable homepage with quick action capabilities, and a slideshow view for photos.

Meanwhile, through the iCloud for Windows app, you can conveniently access a wide range of content from your Apple devices on your Windows PC, including:

  • iCloud Passwords: Manage passwords on your PC, sync them across devices, and generate time-based one-time passwords.
  • iCloud Photos: Keep your photos updated across all devices, create shared albums, and view them in Microsoft Photos.
  • iCloud Drive: Safely store and access files, and share them directly from File Explorer.
  • iCloud Contacts, Calendars, and Bookmarks: Keep them up to date across all devices and view them in Outlook or other browsers.
