Musk’s involvement with Trump isn’t limited to advisory roles. Federal records reviewed by Reuters show that Musk contributed $119 million to a pro-Trump spending group.
It seems that the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) co-commissioner Elon Musk is taking his job a bit too seriously. The billionaire Tesla CEO is reportedly maintaining a close presence around US President-elect Donald Trump, frequently visiting his Florida residence. Reports suggest Musk has been deeply involved in key discussions, including joining phone calls with tech leaders and global figures.
A report by The Information revealed that Musk participated in a congratulatory call made by Google CEO Sundar Pichai to Trump following his electoral victory.
The tech leaders’ conversation highlights Musk’s deepening role as an advisor, a position he seems to be embracing actively.
Trump has also disclosed other interactions with top tech executives, including a recent conversation with Apple CEO Tim Cook. This discussion centred on financial penalties imposed by the European Union on Apple, an issue Trump indicated he plans to address.
Not Just An Advisor
Musk’s involvement with Trump isn’t limited to advisory roles. Federal records reviewed by Reuters show that Musk contributed $119 million to a pro-Trump spending group during the election campaign.
The sizable contribution reflects Musk’s efforts to align his companies’ interests — spanning Tesla’s electric vehicles, SpaceX’s rockets, and Neuralink’s brain chips — with favourable government policies. These industries rely heavily on government contracts, subsidies, and regulations.
Musk officially endorsed Trump on July 13, following a dramatic assassination attempt in Pennsylvania that left Trump injured. Musk’s support became increasingly visible as the election neared, with the billionaire frequently speaking at campaign events and standing by Trump’s side on election night.
