Made-In-India iPhone 15 Could Be Up For Purchase On Sales Debut Day: Report

Apple's plan reportedly includes making domestically manufactured iPhone 15 handsets available not only in India, but also in some other regions during their "global sales debut".

Made-in-India iPhone 15 units are reportedly set to hit the market on the very first day of their launch. Citing sources, a Bloomberg report states that Apple intends to offer devices assembled in India for sale on the day of their global debut. This is welcome news for Indian iPhone enthusiasts who will no longer have to endure extended waiting periods to acquire the latest models. It also marks a significant milestone for the Make-in-India initiative.

While it's worth noting that Apple still relies heavily on Chinese manufacturing for a substantial portion of its iPhones, this marks the inaugural occasion when Made-in-India phones will be available on the launch day. In contrast, last year, Apple initiated the production of iPhone 14 series smartphones several weeks after their initial launch.

Apple commenced its journey of manufacturing iPhones in India back in 2017, starting with the iPhone SE. Since then, the company has steadily expanded its manufacturing operations in India, culminating in the launch of the iPhone 15 series.

Today, Apple is set to unveil the iPhone 15 series during a live-streamed event from Apple Park, scheduled to begin at 10:30pm. The company is expected to introduce four new iPhone models: the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Anticipated changes include the introduction of a new A17 Bionic chip for the top-tier variant and the incorporation of titanium frames.

Additionally, there are rumours of a substantial increase in the primary camera resolution for the non-Pro models, jumping from 12 MP to 48 MP. These devices will be powered by the A16 Bionic chipset, which was previously featured in last year's Pro models.

Notably, both the non-Pro and Pro models are expected to transition to USB Type-C ports, signalling a departure from the Lightning cable.

While pricing for the iPhone 15 standard models is expected to remain consistent with last year's, the Pro models might see price adjustments reflecting the significant improvements they bring, including the incorporation of a durable titanium frame and a periscope lens on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, enabling 5x-6x optical zoom.
