Amazon Prime Subscription Price Hiked In India: Check Out New Plans

Amazon Prime plans now start at Rs 299 per month.

Amazon Prime subscription price has been hiked in India, with the new plans becoming effective immediately. This development comes as Amazon announced a rebranding of its Prime Video streaming service, which will be known as Amazon TV in the coming month.

The new pricing plans of Amazon Prime membership are as follows:

The monthly plan has gone up from Rs 179 to Rs 299, representing an increase of Rs 120 per month.

For the quarterly plan, members will now have to pay Rs 599, up from Rs 459 previously.

However, the yearly membership remains at Rs 1,499, while the annual Prime Lite plan continues to cost Rs 999.

It should be noted that Amazon last increased the prices of its Prime membership in December 2021. However, existing members can continue to use their subscription at the old prices, while new members will have to pay the revised prices.

Amazon Prime offers its members several benefits, including access to Amazon's online shopping platform, free and fast delivery, as well as exclusive discounts on certain products. Members also have access to Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Reading, Prime Gaming, and Amazon Family.

The new prices have generated mixed reactions from Amazon Prime members in India, with some expressing disappointment over the price hike, while others see it as a necessary move by the company to improve its services.

Late last year, Amazon launched its Prime Gaming service in India, which offers access to a number of gaming titles, including the likes of FIFA 23, League of Legends, Deathloop, and more. The launch came weeks after the company started testing the service in the South Asian market. Amazon Prime and Video subscribers can access the gaming service, which offers a variety of mobile, PC, and Mac games with in-game loot for free.
