Tamil Nadu: 13-Year-Old Boy Electrocuted To Death While Erecting DMK Party Flag At Vizhupuram
The police informed that the flag post was erected without a permission and they have registered a case.
Chennai: A 13-year-old boy was electrocuted to death at Vizhupuram while erecting party flags to welcome DMK functionaries to a wedding of a party member in the district on Saturday.
According to a report by ABP Nadu, there was a wedding function in Villupuram-Mambalapattu Road and Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister Ponmudi was expected to attend the ceremony.
Following this, more than 10 people were deployed to erect party flags throughout the route which the Minister was expected to take. Among the 10 people, a Class 9 student Dinesh was also involved in erecting the flag poles. While the student was erecting the flag post opposite to EB office in Mambalapattu, the pole hit a high voltage power line and a shock wave passed through the pole, following this, Dinesh was thrown to a distance.
Soon, the people rushed to help the boy and they took him to Mundiyampakkam Government Medical College Hospital. He was immediately shifted to ICU for treatment. However, Dinesh did not respond to treatment and breathed his last.
Talking to ABP Nadu, the police informed that the flag post was erected without permission and they have registered a case. However, no action has been taken but the investigation is going on.

Taking to social media, AIADMK said, "The value of a life doesn't change from government to government. Where are the people who then spoke in support of Subhasree? The Childwelfare Board must intervene and take action against the DMK functionary who was responsible for the death."
The mishap took place despite Madras HC order in 2019 which ordered authorities to remove all unauthorised flag posts since they endanger the lives of motorists and pedestrians. The order followed the demise of a Chennai-based software engineer Subashree who was crushed to death after she lost control of the vehicle when an illegal banner fell on her while she was driving her scooty and was run over by a lorry from behind in Chennai in 2019. That banner was put up by AIADMK Councillor and Kancheepuram East MGR Mandram Assistant Secretary S Jayagopal for his son's wedding.
