Sundar Pichai's Childhood Home In Chennai Sold To Tamil Film Producer
Manikandan said that Sundar's father broke down while handing over the documents.
The ancestral home of Google CEO Sundar Pichai, where he was brought up in Chennai, has been sold to an actor and Tamil cinema producer Manikandan. The property transaction took place without the use of the Google CEO’s name as per the procedure.
Manikandan, talking to The Hindu said, Sundar's father broke down while handing over the documents. This was apparently the first house the family had purchased.
He said, Sundar's father razed down the home at his cost and handed over the plot.
Manikandan, who is also a real estate developer, said that he decided to buy the house immediately after he heard that it was Sundar Pichai's house. However, he said that the paper works took time since Sundar’s father was in the US.
Manikandan said that Sundar Pichai has made the country proud so buying the house where he resided would be a proud achievement.
Manikandan also shared that Sundar's mother made him filter coffee and his father offered him documents on the first meeting itself. He said that he was spellbound by the humility of Sundar's parents.
He also said that Sundar’s parents did not want to use Google CEO's name and they did the registration by following all the formalities and paperwork. Sundar's father also paid all necessary taxes before handing over the documents.
In October 2021, Sundar Pichai came to Chennai and visited Vana Vani school on the way to the airport.
Sundar Pichai was born in Madurai to Lakshmi, a stenographer and Regunatha Pichai, an electrical engineer. The family then moved to Chennai where Sundar spent his childhood. He completed his schooling at Vana Vani school and later moved out of Chennai to join IIT-Kharagpur in metallurgical engineering.
