India Slams 'Politically Motivated' USCIRF's Report, Accuses Commission Of Bias

Ministry of External Affairs has criticised the USCIRF for its biased and politically motivated assessments, particularly regarding claims of rising attacks against minorities in India.

The Ministry of External Affairs said that the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) should be designated as the entity of concern and also noted that the USCIRF 2025 Annual Report once again continues its pattern of issuing biased and politically motivated assessments.

The remarks from MEA came after USCIRF claimed that attacks against India’s minorities rose in 2024.

“We have seen the recently released 2025 Annual Report of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), which once again continues its pattern of issuing biased and politically motivated assessments," Jaiswal said in the press release.

“The USCIRF’s persistent attempts to misrepresent isolated incidents and cast aspersions on India’s vibrant multicultural society reflect a deliberate agenda rather than a genuine concern for religious freedom," he further added.

The spokesperson also noted that India has a population of over 1.4 billion people who are adherents to all the religions known to mankind and stressed that India has no expectation that USCIRF will engage with the reality of the pluralistic framework of acknowledging the harmonious coexistence of its diverse communities.

According to news agency ANI, the report alleged that the religious freedom conditions in India in 2024 continued to deteriorate as the attacks and discrimination against religious minorities continued to rise.
