EPS Elects RB Udhayakumar As Deputy Leader Of Opposition In TN Assembly
The rejigging comes after O Panneerselvam was expelled from the party by EPS camp on July 11.
Chennai: Former AIADMK Minister RB Udhayakumar has been unanimously elected as the deputy leader of Opposition in the Assembly, said Opposition leader Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday. The post was previously held by former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam.
According to a tweet from AIADMK's official social media handle, Edappadi Palaniswami said, "As per the decision made during AIADMK MLAs meet headed by Former TN CM Edappadi K Palaniswami on Sunday, new office bearers have been appointed for the post of deputy Opposition leader of Tamil Nadu and Deputy Secretary of the legislature party."
"RB Udhayakumar of Tirumangalam Assembly constituency will be AIADMK’s deputy Opposition leader and Agri S S Krishnamurthy of Polur constituency will be the Deputy Secretary of the legislature party," it said.

The post of Deputy Secretary was previously held by the supporter of OPS, Paul Manoj Pandian.
The rejigging in the party comes after O Panneerselvam was expelled from the party by EPS camp on July 11.

During AIADMK general council meet on July 11, EPS expelled OPS from the party and as a counter OPS expelled Palaniswami from the party. However, as EPS' camp had the majority they also amended the bylaws and appointed EPS as the interim general secretary of AIADMK.
