Ujjain Horror: Minor Rape Survivor Likely From Satna, MP Police Sends Senior Officers For Identification

The 12-year-old was found bleeding in a semi-naked state begging for help in the Barnagar Road area under the Mahakal Police Station limits in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain.

The Madhya Pradesh Police has sent a team of senior officers to Ujjain's Mahakal Police Station, under whose limits a minor rape survivor was found on Monday, September 25. The senior officers' team has taken along people in order to identify the rape survivor. On Wednesday, the 12-year-old was found bleeding in a semi-naked state begging for help in the Barnagar Road area under the Mahakal Police Station limits in Ujjain. Her condition was critical, due to which she was referred to Indore for better treatment.

Missing Complaint Lodged In Satna On September 24

The need for identification arose because a girl matching her description was reported missing from Satna four days ago (on September 24). When she did not return home till late at night, her family launched a search for her. Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural), Jabalpur, Shivesh Singh Baghel said: "They looked for her at friends' and relatives' homes and even at the Satna railway station. However, when she could not be found anywhere, her family lodged a missing complaint the next morning,"  The complaint was lodged under Section 368 (punishment for kidnapping).

Baghel said that the police announced a reward for helping locate the girl's family. "The description published in the newspaper advertisement led the police to believe that this could be the missing girl. A senior officers' team has now been sent to the Mahakal police station along with the girl's family members for identification," he said.

Five In Police Custody

So far, five people have been taken into custody for questioning. According to initial reports, an autorickshaw driver from the area has been arrested after blood was found in his vehicle. Police are trying to trace the girl's movement from Satna to Ujjain. Ujjain Police SP Sachin Sharma said that the girl underwent surgery and is safe now. Police personnel donated blood to her. "We have found several clues and are trying to track down the people with whom the girl interacted during her journey from Satna to Ujjain," he said.

Delhi Women's Rights Panel Seeks Action

Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal has demanded immediate identification and arrest of the culprits in the case. "MP Police should arrest the accused immediately. Who are those people who did not help a small 12-year-old girl pleading for help in a bleeding and naked state? Should action not be taken against such people? What kind of nation are we making? There should be action against such people as well. The case should go to a fast-track court, and such people should be hanged," she said.
