Rajasthan: 4 Cops Suspended, Others Sent To Police Lines For Not Acting Against Sale Of 'Beef'

Four policemen were suspended and others sent to police lines in Rajasthan for not taking action against alleged sale of meat, suspected to be beef.

Four police personnel were suspended from Rajasthan's Khairthal-Tijara district while others were shifted to police lines for not taking action against people allegedly selling meat suspected to be beef, said the officials on Monday, as per a PTI report. 

The development took place after some people were caught while allegedly selling suspected beef in the open in a deserted place in this district, they said.

Following the information about cow slaughter and selling of beef in the open, raids were conducted by several police teams in the area and some suspects were caught. 

According to Jaipur Inspector General (IG) of Police Umesh Dutta, various teams were formed for combing operations in four districts in the range. 

After receiving information about cow slaughter and sale of beef in Kishangarh Bas area, several people were detained by the police and fresh meat was recovered which was sent for testing, he added. 

"We have recovered some substance which is being scientifically checked. Some suspects have been caught and detained and are being questioned," he said.

The officer said that four policemen have of Kishangarh Bas Police Station who were in charge of beats in which the substance was found and suspects were caught have been suspended while the remaining staff was shifted to the police lines.

As per the PTI report, quoting sources as saying, one of the Assistant Sub-Inspectors, one head constable, and two constables are among those suspended while others including the Station House Officer, were removed from the police station and sent to police lines. 

There were 38 policemen in the police station.  

An inquiry has also been ordered against the policemen for not taking action on the complaints regarding sale of beef, said the 
IG. 

An additional Superintendent of Police (SP) rank official from outside the district will conduct the inquiry, he added. 

As per the police, the area where the search operation was carried out is near the Haryana border which is famous for cow smuggling.
