An exchange of fire broke out between police and Gangster Ranjot Singh at a village near Batala in Punjab's Gurdaspur district where he was arrested later.
New Delhi: Exchange of fire broke out between Punjab police and a gangster at a village near Batala in Punjab's Gurdaspur district on Saturday.
Police arrested Gangster Ranjot Singh after a brief exchange of fire, news agency ANI reported.

"Gangster Ranjot Singh has been arrested. Six cases are registered against him. Police raided his house in the morning but he escaped from there. Police chased him but he opened fire on the police. In firing, he got injured. 2 pistols were recovered from his possession," Satinder Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Batala, said, as quoted by ANI.
The officer informed that no police personnel got injured in the incident.
