Telangana: Top Maoist Commander Involved In Multiple Attacks On Security Forces Surrenders
Aluri Usha Rani was involved in several violent incidents both in Telangana and Chattisgarh including exchanges of fire with police, abduction and assault cases.
Chennai: Top Maoist Commander Aluri Usha Rani surrendered before Telangana police on Saturday. Aluri Usha Rani is also known by multiple operating names including Vijayakka, Pochakka and Bahu.
On Saturday, the 53-year-old native of Tenali in Gundur district surrendered before the police. Aluri Usha Rani is a divisional committee member of North Sub Zonal Bureau of Danda Karanya Special Zonal Committee. Aluri Usha Rani was brought up at Gudivada and she joined Maoism in 1991.
She was involved in several violent incidents both in Telangana and Chattisgarh states. As per available information and as disclosed by her, she participated in a total of 14 offences during her underground life in Telangana and Chhattisgarh states. Some of them include attack on security forces (05), exchanges of fire with police (03), blasting of buildings public and private (03), abduction and assault case (01) and assault cases (02).

In 1997, she was severely injured in an exchange of fire and survived after receiving a bullet injury in Pedda Adisharlapalli village on Sagar road, Nalgonda district.

In August, a woman maoist leader Podium Jogamma alias Rithika (22) surrendered before Chintur police. She was CPI (Maoist) Telangana Committee member. The police announced a reward of 1 lakh for information regarding her hideout.
She was earlier booked in two cases for her involvement in two exchanges of fire with the security forces. Jogamma joined Maoists in 2019. She got moved while the leaders used to visit her village and conduct meetings.
