Karnataka: Teacher Thrashed For 'Sending Obscene Message To Female Colleague'

On Monday, the woman's relatives arrived at the school, confronted her colleague Mehboob Ali about his behaviour and physically assaulted him, even stripping him of his clothes.

A teacher was assaulted for sending obscene messages to his female colleague in Raichur district, Karnataka, officials said on Tuesday. The accused, identified as Mehboob Ali, is an assistant teacher at Adarsha Government School on the outskirts of the city.

According to police, Ali had sent inappropriate messages to a female guest teacher, asking her to "entertain him", according to a report on IANS. Despite initially ignoring the advances, the guest teacher continued to be harassed by Ali.

Unable to bear it any longer, she shared her ordeal with her family. On Monday, her relatives arrived at the school, confronted Mehboob Ali about his behavior, and physically assaulted him, even stripping him of his clothes.

Ali was forced to write an apology to the teacher, confessing to his misconduct. He was also made to touch her feet as a sign of remorse. The family warned him of severe consequences if he attempted similar advances in the future.

Ali, pleading with the family and the victim for mercy due to his own family circumstances, managed to avoid a police complaint and legal action, as the victim chose not to pursue it, as per the report.

However, videos of the accused teacher apologizing and touching the victim's feet went viral on social media on Tuesday.

Raichur police stated that they would take legal action against the teacher if the victim decided to file a formal complaint.

In Raichur, earlier, the police arrested a teacher for forcing the mother of a student for having a phsycial relationship with him. The teacher also reportedly circulated the video.

The accused teacher forced her with the promise of taking tuition for her daughter and getting government facilities.

The accused teacher was identified as Mohammad Azaruddin, a teacher at Singapura Government School.
