J'khand CM Keeps Home And 2 Other Depts, Banna Gupta Gets Health, Water & Construction Under Basant Soren

The ceremony, held at Raj Bhavan in Ranchi, saw the induction of ministers from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress parties.

Jharkhand Portfolio Allocation: The recent expansion of Chief Minister Champai Soren's cabinet in Jharkhand has seen the allocation of portfolios to key ministers.

Chief Minister Champai Soren has kept crucial departments, including the Department of Personnel, Administrative Reforms & Rajbhasha, Department of Home, Department of Cabinet Secretariat, and Vigilance. This strategic move positions him to oversee significant aspects of the state administration.

Rameshwar Oraon, Congress party representative, has been entrusted with the Finance Department and the Department of Commercial Taxes. These key portfolios place Oraon at the helm of economic and financial matters within the state.

Banna Gupta, another Congress leader, assumes charge of the Department of Health, Medical Education & Family Welfare, and the Department of Disaster Management. Gupta's responsibilities extend to critical sectors such as healthcare and disaster preparedness.

Basant Soren, JMM leader and brother of former CM Hemant Soren, will be heading the Department of Road Construction, Building Construction Department, and Water Resources Department. These portfolios highlight his role in shaping the state's infrastructure and water management strategies.

The ceremony, held at Raj Bhavan in Ranchi, saw the induction of ministers from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress parties.

During the oath-taking ceremony, other ministers, including Mithilesh Kumar Thakur, Hafizul Hasan, Bebi Devi, Badal Patralekh, and JMM leader Deepak Birua, officially assumed their roles in the cabinet.

In his post-ceremony statement, Chief Minister Champai Soren expressed, "Today the expansion of the cabinet has been done, and responsibilities will be given to all the ministers, then will take the work forward."

Champai Soren, aged 67, took office as the 12th Chief Minister of Jharkhand on February 2, succeeding Hemant Soren. The expansion comes after the recent detention of former CM Hemant Soren by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case. The confidence motion on February 5 secured 47 votes in favor of the JMM-led coalition government, ensuring stability with a majority in the 81-member legislature.
