Lift Collapse Kills 7 Workers In Maharashtra's Thane
The development comes days after seven workers were killed when a service lift crashed in a building in Maharashtra's Thane.
The workers were coming down in the service lift after completing some waterproofing works on the terrace of the skyrise. Suddenly, there was a technical snag midway and the lift rope snapped. The lift hurtled down at high speed and crashed, killing sseven and leaving one labourer critically injured.
Several incidents of lift malfunction and crashes have been reported from high-rise societies in Noida and Greater Noida in recent months.
In August, a 73-year-old woman died of possible cardiac arrest after a lift crashed at a housing complex in Noida. The lift did not hit the ground and got caught between some of the middle floors of the building.
