In the resignation letter submitted to the CM, Chandra Priyanka said, "I have realized that even if I had the people's support, it would be challenging to combat the politics of deceit and the formidable sway of wealth prevalent in the Assembly. Being a Dalit woman, I took pride in my two identities, but I was unaware of others covertly urging me to represent them. I realised that I have been frequently subjected to caste and sexual harassment."
However, she said, "Realizing that it is not possible to continue as a minister by continuing to fight against the dominant forces, I am resigning from my ministerial post."
She was elected as a member of Puducherry Assembly from Nedungadu constituency in May 2016. In 2021 Puducherry Assembly election, she defeated A Marimuthu of Indian National Congress in the same constituency. She secured her seat by a difference of 8,560 votes.
After her victory, Priyanka talking to New Indian Express expressed her willingness to work for the development of Karaikal.
Priyanka completed her schooling in Karaikal. She graduated with a BBA from Annamalai University. Chandira acted in a short film called Jhansi.
