Bihar: Accident Averted After 32 Wagons Of Goods Train Detach In Saran

The incident took place between Bada Gopal and Goldenganj railway stations after the goods train departed Bada Gopal railway station.

An accident was averted in Bihar's Saran district on Saturday after 32 of 40 wagons of goods train got detached midway without the loco pilot's realisation as he kept moving the train for almost 10 km, an official said, as reported by news agency IANS.

The incident took place between Bada Gopal and Goldenganj railway stations after the goods train departed Bada Gopal railway station. The train was heading towards Goldenganj railway station. According to IANS, it was found later that the good train suffered a coupling breakage.

After learning about the incident, railway officials informed the loco pilot, after which he stopped the train at Goldenganj railway station.

"Fortunately, some passenger trains were running late; otherwise, there could have been a collision as the detached 32 wagons were stationary for around 30 minutes," an official said, as reported by IANS. The wagons were later moved off the main track, and the route was cleared.

Earlier this month, a goods train derailed near Chengalpattu in Tamil Nadu, as reported by ANI. After the train derailment incident took place, train movements from South Tamil Nadu towards Chennai were stopped.

Speaking on the incident, railway officials said that a goods train that was coming towards Chennai Harbour carrying iron-related rods derailed near Chengalpattu last night around 10.30 pm. More than five coaches have derailed. Railway officials began efforts to clear the track and regulate the train movements.

In the same month, a similar incident took place in Maharashtra's Thane, where seven coaches of a goods train derailed in the Kasara-TGR3 station section, disrupting rail services in the region, ANI reported. The Central Railway Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) has confirmed the incident. He further assured that restoration efforts are underway on the route.

Following the derailment, trains diverted via the Diva-Vasai route have been given halts at Thane and Diva stations, as per the CPRO.

"A total of seven coaches of a goods train derailed in the Kasara and TGR3 station sections. All the diverted trains going via the Diva-Vasai route will be given a halt at the Thane and Diva stations. The restoration work is in progress," the CPRO statement said, as quoted by ANI.
