Ayodhya Ram Mandir: Jammu-Kashmir, Jharkhand Declare Half-Day Holiday On Jan 22

Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand on Sunday declared a half-day holiday on January 22 in view of the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Sunday declared a half-day holiday on January 22 on the occasion of the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. In an order issued by Commissioner Secretary General Administration Department (GAD) Sanjeev Verma, stated, "it is hereby ordered that half-day public holiday (till 02:30 pm) shall be observed on January 22 in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir", news agency PTI reported.

The Union territory administration issued the order while referring to the grant of a half-day holiday to Central government employees by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Department of Personnel & Training) regarding the consecration event in Ayodhya, reported PTI.

Similarly, the Jharkhand government also announced a half-day for the government offices on January 22. In an official announcement, the Office of the Jharkhand CM posted, "On the occasion of the pranpratishtha at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya tomorrow, CM Hemant Soren has directed the Chief Secretary to close all government offices till 2:30 pm."

As per the order, all government schools will remain closed for the entire day tomorrow.

Earlier, many states have either declared the day a public holiday or a half-day to mark the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. Continuing the pace many states have imposed a ban on sales of liquor, meat and fish to observe the event. 

According to PTI, the temple has been decorated with special lights and rich stocks of flowers. The streetlights on flyovers have been decorated with depictions of Lord Ram, cutouts of bow and arrow, and traditional Ramanandi tilak-themed lamp posts. Ayodhya is all decked up to mark the historic event.

The holy city is adorned with vibrant flowers in preparation for the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony. The grand Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony will be held in Ayodhya on January 22 at 12:20 p.m. and is expected to end by 1:00 p.m.  PM Modi and other eminent personalities from all walks of life will grace the ceremony.
