Punjab Shocker: Amritsar Man Ties Pregnant Wife To Bed, Sets Her On Fire After Argument

Pinky, who was six months pregnant with twins, lost her life in the blaze. Sukhdev and Pinky had been married for approximately two and a half years prior to this incident.

New Delhi: In a harrowing incident in Punjab's Amritsar, a man allegedly killed his pregnant wife's by tying her to a bed and setting her ablaze in Buled Nangal village, Rayya area. The incident occurred on Friday, with police revealing that the couple was known for their frequent quarrels. Following a heated argument that day, the accused, Sukhdev tied Pinky, who was six months pregnant, to a bed and set her on fire.

Inspector Gurvinder Singh said Pinky, who was pregnant with twins, died on the spot while her husband Sukhdev is absconding. A case has been registered, and a search is on for the accused, the inspector said. The incident has been reported from Bullenangal village in Baba Bakala, falling under the jurisdiction of the Beas police station in Amritsar district.

Pinky died in the fire and all the belongings in the house were also burnt to ashes. Pinky, a 23-year-old woman who was six months pregnant with twins, lost her life in the blaze. Sukhdev and Pinky had been married for approximately two and a half years prior to this incident.

Police investigations have revealed a pattern of frequent quarrels between Sukhdev and Pinky, indicating a strained relationship between the couple. The tension culminated on Friday when an argument ensued, prompting Sukhdev to allegedly take drastic measures to kill Pinky. She was set on fire while still alive. Authorities have registered a case and are actively investigating the matter to ascertain further details and bring the perpetrator to justice.

The National Commission for Women has taken serious note of the incident and has condemned it unequivocally. In a statement posted on X, the commission expressed its outrage over the heinous crime.

Additionally, the commission has requested a comprehensive report from the Punjab Police regarding the matter.
