Ambulance Carrying 'Critically Ill' Child Halted For An Hour For Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's Convoy

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar was returning to Patna after inaugurating an ethanol factory in Nalanda.

New Delhi: An ambulance carrying a "critically ill" child was allegedly kept waiting for an hour in Patna as the police prioritised the convoy of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The video, that has gone viral on the social media, shows the child’s mother, frantically asking the police officials to let the ambulance go as the child was reportedly “fighting for life”. However, police kept the ambulance waiting till the chief minister’s convoy passed.

According to reports, CM Nitish Kumar was returning to Patna after inaugurating an ethanol factory in Nalanda. The police stopped all the vehicles in a bid to ensure the chief minister’s cavalcade passed without any hassle. Unfortunately, the ambulance reached the area just when the police stopped the vehicles.

Although the ambulance driver told the police that the child was critically ill and was being taken to a hospital in Patna from Fatuha, the officials did not let them go and the ambulance had to wait for an hour till the chief minister’s convoy passed. According to reports, the woman broke down as her child fell unconscious while waiting.

It is to be noted that a similar incident was reported in Patna a month back when an ambulance was stopped to allow the Chief Minister's convoy to pass through.

The policeman who stopped the ambulance was later identified, however, no action was taken.

A video of that incident was shared by BJP leader Vishnu Vardhan Reddy. In the video, the family members of the patient could be seen sitting in the ambulance and crying profusely as they had to wait.

Taking to X, the BJP leader wrote, “Ambulance is stopped, a patient is fighting for life, family members are crying, all because Shahenshah-e-Bihar Nitish Kumar is passing by... Shame!!”

The ambulance was allowed to leave only after CM Nitish Kumar's cavalcade crossed the area.
