Shahid Afridi warns India of "Pathans guarding Pakistan border"

New Delhi: After having appealed for peace, beleaguered cricketer Shahid Afridi has now warned India of “Pathans standing at the border forefront.” Speaking at a cricket show, the all-rounder was asked to react on an article by an Indian news portal that allegedly ridiculed his tweet and stated that “Afridi was scared of Indian Army.” The 36-year-old responded: “Indians aren’t aware that ahead of the Pakistani army, it is the Pathans who are standing. The borders are all protected by the Pathans,” Afridi, who himself is a Pathan and is on the verge of retiring, had earlier urged in his tweet that two Asian neighbours should maintain peace and say no to war. "Pakistan is a peace loving nation, why talk about extreme measures when things can be resolved through dialogues?" the former T20 skipper said. "Pakistan wants cordial relationship with all. When two neighbours fight both homes are effected (affected). Say No to war. #Pakistan #India #Peace #neighbours," he tweeted in a series of tweets. The Indian Army carried surgical strikes across the LoC last week and neutralised terrorists from crossing over into India. Seven terror launch pads were destroyed. Five controversial comments made in the past
  • This is not for the first time; the controversial cricketer has made such comments. Earlier this year, he had stated that his team is loved more in India than back home.

  • Criticized hard for that, he tried to do some damage control and thanked “supporters from Kashmir” in the next match.

  • In 2011, he had said, "In my opinion, Indians will never have hearts like Muslims and Pakistanis".

  • "He (Tendulkar) was scared of Shoaib Akhtar. I have seen it myself. I was fielding at square leg and saw his legs trembling when Shoaib came on to bowl,"

  • Once when Afridi was adsked about his views on a women’s cricket team in Peshawar, he replied: “Our women have great taste in their hands and they cook very tasty food,”
