PV Sindhu creates history, becomes first Indian to enter Olympic badminton final

Rio de Janeiro: PV Sindhu created history on Thursday as she became the first Indian shuttler ever to reach the final of the Olympic badminton competition. A day after wrestler Sakshi Malik gave India its first medal in the ongoing Rio Olympics, Sindhu ensured at least a silver as she beat Japan's Nozomi Okuhara 21-19, 21-10  in the semifinal to secure a place in the final. Both the shuttlers matched each other shot by shot in the first game before Sindhu sealed the win. In the second game, however, Sindhu dominated throughout to secure the win. Sindhu improved on Saina Nehwal bronze medal effort at the 2012 London Olympics four years ago. Sindhu faces world No. 1 Carolina Marin of Spain in the summit clash on Friday.
