Players always had last laugh: Vinod Rai

New Delhi [India], July 17 (ANI): Committee of Administrators (CoA) chairman Vinod Rai claimed that it is not a new thing in Indian cricket for players to have an upper hand over their coaches.

The comment came after Indian women's cricket team coach, Tushar Arothe, resigned from his position, reportedly after having hot talks with senior members of the women's team.

To support his argument, Rai gave an example of the rift between former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly and former Indian coach Greg Chappel.

He further stated that ultimately, it was the coach who had to leave the job, even in the case of Anil Kumble, who resigned from the position of head coach of the Indian team following "untenable" relations with Captain Virat Kohli.

Reflecting on the dope test issue, the chairman said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will hold a technical committee meeting where the dope test will be one of the main agendas.

In the past, the BCCI has clarified that it will not come under National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) for players' dope test, but the matter will be discussed again in the meeting, Rai informed.

The technical committee meeting is slated to be held on July 22 in Kolkata. (ANI)
