Rishabh Pant Says He's 'Coming To Play' Prior To IPL 2023 But There's A Twist In The Tale
Pant met with an accident in December last year and has been out of cricket action ever since.
Delhi Capitals will be without the services of their captain Rishabh Pant in IPL 2023. The wicketkeeper-batter met with an accident in December last year and continues to recover from the injuries he suffered in the mishap. The 25-year-old was driving to his hometown of Roorkee when he lost control of his Mercedes which hit the divider and caught fire. The cricketer was fortunate to get out of the car in time.
Even though Pant is still some time away from his cricketing comeback and his IPL franchise have already announced Australia's David Warner as the captain in his absence and are closing in on signing Bengal wicketkeeper-batter Abhishek Porel as his replacement, a recent video featuring him in which he can says that he is coming back to play has gone viral on social media.
"I can't live without two things- Cricket and Food. I haven't been able to play cricket for the past few months. But the doctor did tell me to eat properly. So I had lots of healthy food at home and whenever my teammates came over, I ordered online. Then slowly, everyone got busy with practice because the cricket season was starting soon," he says in what is a promotional video for a food delivery app.
"That's when I felt if everyone is playing, why not me? I am still in the game boss! I am coming to play," he adds.

While the franchise is looking to sign left-handed Porel as a wicketkeeper who has reportedly impressed the management in the warm-up matches, Sarfaraz Khan could be the one who dons the wicketkeeping duties for them in the first few matches. Porel, aged 20, is being looked upon as someone who can be groomed for the furture and may not get a calll straight away.
