Virat Kohli's RCB Claim Unwanted Playoffs Record Following Defeat To RR In IPL 2024 Eliminator

Virat Kohli's RCB Claim Unwanted Playoffs Record: Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) loss against Rajasthan Royals (RR) meant that the franchise are now at the helm of an embarrassing record list.

Virat Kohli's RCB Claim Unwanted Playoffs Record: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) might have won six matches in a row to secure a place in the Indian Premier League (IPL) Playoffs but in a do-or-die IPL 2024 Eliminator against Rajasthan Royals (RR), they succumbed to a defeat to get knocked out of the tournament.

The defeat also meant RCB became the owner of an embarrassing IPL Playoffs record as the team succumbed to yet another defeat in the business end of the competition. The Faf du Plessis-led side now has the most number of defeats in the IPL Playoffs in the tournament's history. The loss against RR was their tenth in the business end of the tournament. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) are joint-second with nine defeats in IPL Playoffs.

The team has also played three IPL finals- in the second season in 2009 then in 2011 and also in 2016, losing out on all the three occasions. RCB are one team that have been participating in the IPL since its inaugural season but have not yet managed to get their hands on the trophy.

Kevin Pietersen Reckons Virat Kohi Should Leave RCB

Post RCB's defeat, Kevin Pietersen has suggested that Virat Kohli, who has played all 17 seasons for the franchise, should consider leaving RCB if he needs to win an IPL trophy. He cited the example of David Beckham and Critisano Ronaldo among other great sporting stars who left their club in order to achieve greater glory. KP even reckoned that Delhi Capitals (DC) could be good franchise for Kohli.

"I think it's about time Virat thought long and hard. Beckham left, Ronaldo left, Messi left, Harry Kane just left Spurs and went to Bayern Munich," Pietersen said on Star Sports.

"I actually think it should be Delhi. Delhi is the place where Virat needs to go. Virat can go away, and stay at home most of the time, I know he has a home in Delhi. He has a young family. He can spend more time there. He is a Delhi boy. Why can't he go back? Delhi are as desperate as Bengaluru," he added.
