Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav Power MI To Dominant 9-Wicket Win Over CSK At Wankhede

Mumbai Indians registered their third consecutive victory of the IPL 2025 season by defeating arch-rivals CSK by 7 wickets on Sunday.

Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav guided Mumbai Indians (MI) to their second consecutive victory of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 seson as they defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 9 wickets in the 38th match of the tournament at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 20 (Sunday). While Rohit scored 45-ball 76, Suryakumar Yadav chipped in with a blistering 30-ball 68. With the win Mumbai Indians climbed to the sixth spot in the IPL 2025 points table.

Chennai, after being asked to bat first, never quite found the momentum they needed to post a daunting target. While there were moments of promise — notably fifties from Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja — CSK's innings lacked the firepower to cross the 200-run mark. A blazing cameo from debutant Ayush Mhatre added some late spark, but the total of 176-5 in 20 overs always looked under par on a batting-friendly surface, with short boundaries and the dew factor adding to the challenge for bowlers.

Mumbai’s chase was off to a flier, courtesy of an aggressive Rohit Sharma, who looked in sublime touch from the outset. Opening partner Ryan Rickelton got a start but was dismissed by Jadeja. Suryakumar Yadav, promoted to No. 3 by skipper Hardik Pandya, justified the move with a sensational knock.

Rohit anchored the innings while SKY played the aggressor, peppering the boundary regularly. The pair not only dominated the CSK bowling attack but also brought up MI’s first century partnership (114*-run) of the season. Rohit’s 45-ball 76 and SKY’s 30-ball 68 took the game away from Chennai, as MI cruised home with plenty to spare.

The win lifts Mumbai further up the points table and highlights their batting strength as the tournament enters its second half. CSK, meanwhile, continue to languish at the bottom, struggling for consistency.
