Virat Kohli's IPL Record That Stands Unbroken Till Today

Representing Royal Challengers Bangalore since 2008, Kohli has remained a symbol of consistency.

Virat Kohli continues to dominate IPL 2025, playing a fiery innings of 51 runs to guide Royal Challengers Bangalore to victory against Delhi Capitals.

With this knock, Kohli reclaimed the Orange Cap and strengthened his claim for the prestigious title for the third time. But more significantly, he achieved a record unmatched in IPL history.

Virat Kohli Creates History

Representing Royal Challengers Bangalore since 2008, Kohli has remained a symbol of consistency. This season, he has scored 443 runs in 10 matches at an average of 63.29 and a strike rate of 138.87, including six half-centuries.

With these performances, Kohli has now scored 400 or more runs in a season for the 11th time — the most by any player in IPL history. His previous 400+ seasons came in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2023, and 2024.

How Kohli Stands Apart

Kohli has left behind other IPL legends when it comes to consistent run-scoring:

11 times – Virat Kohli

9 times – Suresh Raina

9 times – Shikhar Dhawan

9 times – David Warner

No other player has crossed the 400-run mark in more seasons than Kohli.

Kohli's Unmatched IPL Record

Across 262 matches in the IPL, Virat Kohli has scored 8447 runs at an average of 39.47 and a strike rate of 132.32. His stellar record includes 8 centuries and 61 half-centuries, making him the all-time leading run-scorer in IPL history.

How RCB can qualify for IPL playoffs

Virat Kohli will return to action on Saturday (May 3) as Royal Challengers Bangalore face Chennai Super Kings in a crucial IPL 2025 clash. RCB are on the brink of sealing a playoff spot, having collected 14 points from 10 matches with seven wins and three losses.

Typically, teams need 16 points to secure a place in the IPL playoffs. After the CSK encounter, RCB will face Lucknow Super Giants, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Kolkata Knight Riders in their remaining league stage games. With three matches left, RCB need just one more win to confirm their place in the playoffs.
