IPL 2024 Playoffs Format: The Indian Premier League (IPL) season 2024 has surpassed the halfway mark, with all ten teams having completed at least seven matches, and some even playing eight. Similar to previous seasons, this year's IPL has been brimming with excitement for both fans and cricketers. As the tournament progresses, the anticipation and excitement are only set to escalate further. 

As the ten teams compete for the top four spots in the points table of the 17th season of IPL 2024, let's delve into playoff scenarios and how teams can secure spots in the qualifiers or eliminators.

Qualification Scenarios For IPL 2024 Playoffs

In IPL 2024, each of the ten teams are scheduled to compete against each other in a total of 14 matches. Teams will earn two points for a victory, and their overall performance, including factors like Net Run Rate (NRR), will be taken into account. The top four teams in the IPL 2024 points table will advance to the playoffs. Currently Rajasthan Royals (RR), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are the top four teams on the IPL 2024 points table.

IPL 2024 Qualifier 1

The league stage of the IPL concludes after all teams have completed their quota of matches. The teams in the first and second positions will face off in a match known as Qualifier 1 on May 21, with the winner advancing directly to the IPL 2024 final.

IPL 2024 Eliminator

The team that loses Qualifier 1 will receive another opportunity to secure a spot in the final. They will play against the winner of the IPL Eliminator on May 24, a match between the teams ranked third and fourth.

IPL 2024 Final

In the IPL Eliminator, the teams ranked third and fourth will compete on May 22, with the winner advancing to Qualifier 2. The victor of Qualifier 2 will join the winner of Qualifier 1 in the grand finale of IPL 2024 set to take place on May 26.
