'He Has Bowled Absolute Rubbish': Gavaskar Lambasts Yash Dayal For Poor Outing Vs KKR In IPL 2023

Kolkata Knight Riders required 29 runs in the final over when Rinku Singh pulled off one of the greatest heists in T20 internationals, hitting Yash Dayal for 5 back-to-back sixes in the final 5 balls.

One of the most exciting matches in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 was played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans on Sunday (April 10). In this match, Gujarat Titans set Kolkata a target of 205 runs for victory, which Kolkata achieved off the final ball of 20th over. Kolkata Knight Riders required 29 runs in the final over when Rinku Singh pulled off one of the greatest heists in T20 internationals, hitting Yash Dayal for 5 back-to-back sixes in the final five balls. For the unversed, Yash Dayal and Rinku Singh play domestic cricket for Uttar Pradesh and share a good bond.

Meanwhile, cricketer-turned-commentator Rohan Gavaskar went extreme in his criticism of Yash Dayal as he leaked 32 runs in the final over vs KKR in IPL 2023. Gavaskar said: "This is why I say it's a bowler's game. He has bowled absolute rubbish over there, but we've been talking about Rinku Singh and how good he has been batting. Yesterday we were saying that if a batter goes at about a run-a-ball or at a strike-rate of 120, you are criticising him. A bowler goes for 31 and you say it's Rinku Singh - he takes the plaudits. And that is why I keep saying this is a bowler's game."

Notably, former all-rounder Rohan Gavaskar was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise as a player from 2009 to 2010.

Yash Dayal has so far played all three matches of Gujarat Titans in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 but is yet to get his maiden wicket this season.

After giving away 69 runs in his four overs, Yash Dayal registered an unwanted record as he bowled the second-most expensive over in the history of the IPL. Yash had a bad day at work, and to cheer up the talented youngster, KKR posted a special message for him via its official Twitter handle.

“Chin up, lad. Just a hard day at the office, happens to the best of players in cricket. You’re a champion, Yash, and you’re gonna come back strong” KKR captioned the post.
