Gambhir's return to the franchise saw Kolkata finishing the league stage as table-toppers, remaining unbeaten in the playoffs, and ultimately defeating SRH in commanding fashion to lift the IPL trophy for the third time.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Gautam Gambhir shared an inspirational "Shri Krishna" post in Hindi, which has now gone viral on the internet.

"Whose thoughts and actions are of truth, Even today Lord Krishna drives his chariot," KKR mentor Gambhir wrote in the caption of his post.

It was under Gambhir's leadership that KKR won its last titles a decade ago, becoming champions in 2012 and 2014. Now, with Gambhir's return after 10 years, KKR has once again captured the IPL trophy.

Gautam Gambhir is known for his aggressive approach, whether as a player, captain, or mentor. After retiring as a player, Gambhir began his mentoring career in the IPL with Lucknow Super Giants, leading the new franchise to the playoffs twice.

When the opportunity arose to return to his home team, KKR, Gambhir accepted the offer. His return played a crucial role in KKR's success in lifting the IPL trophy after a decade.

Speaking to the broadcaster after the IPL 2024 Final, KKR vice-captain Nitish Rana said:

"I want to share one short story when GG (Gautam Gambhir) bhaiya was named the mentor, I sent him a long message as I was really happy. But he replied saying, "Thank you but I would be happy if we stand at the podium with the trophy in our hands." Today is that day and I will never forget that message," revealed Rana.
