Ind vs Eng, Lord's Test: Shami-Bumrah Heroics Help India Clinch Thriller, Take 1-0 Lead

Indian bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, who are known for their bowling skills, delivered an 'out-of-the-world' performance with bat to steal the show at Lord's.

The Indian cricket fans all over the world were absolutely elated and buzzed after the Virat Kohli & Co. came up with a remarkable all-round performance to attain a historic win over heavyweights England, on the fifth and final day of the India vs England Lord's Test on Monday. India, today, under skipper Virat Kohli secured their third Test win at the iconic Lord's and first after 2014 triumph under legend MS Dhoni.

After setting a tough 272-run target for England, Indian bowlers took out five English batsmen ahead of the last session to seal the deal. The hosts tried very hard to steady their sinking ship but eventually team India defeated Joe Root-led Men by 153 runs to win a Test match at Lord's after seven years and take 1-0 lead in the five-match Test series.

England got all out for 120 runs. Captain Joe Root scored the maximum 33 runs for his team.  Apart from him, Jos Buttler too played a belligerent innings of 25 runs.

In the final hour of the match, England had to bat 90 balls to draw and India needed three wickets for the win. Young speedster Mohammad Siraj rose to the occassion and bagged the maximum 4 wickets. Apart from him, Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma picked three and two wickets respectively while Mohammed Shami picked one wicket after scoring his career's top score.

Resuming Day 5 on 181/6, India dealt with a big blow after in-form Rishbah Pant was sent packing early on by Ollie Robinson. But, tailenders Shami and Bumrah went on to stitch a record-breaking 89-run partnership in the opening session - India's first-ever 50-plus 9th wicket stand - to help their squad claw back into the game.

Captain Virat Kohli declared India's 2nd innings on 28/8, nine balls post-lunch session and set England a target of 272 to chase in the last two sessions.
