ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020: Complete Details On Teams, Groups, Venues and Squads

The opening fixture of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup will be played between defending champions Australia and India at the Sydney Showground Stadium

The seventh edition of the ICC Women's T2o World Cup will be hosted by Australia from Feb 21 to Mar 8. The tournament will feature 10 of the best T20 international teams in women's cricket locking horns with each other over a fortnight to vie for the glittering trophy and bring back laurels to their nation. The opening fixture of the showpiece event will witness defending champions Australia take on India at the Sydney Showground Stadium. Defending champions and hosts Australia have been the most successful team in the tournament history, laying hands on the trophy four times. Meanwhile West Indies and England have one title each to their name. Before the main tournament, 10 warm-up games will be played between February 15 and February 20, with every team getting two games each. Groups The ten teams have been grouped in two groups of five teams each. Defending champions Australia have been placed alongside India, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Group A; England, South Africa, West Indies, Pakistan and Thailand find themselves in Group B. Format Each team will play each other in their group fixtures and the top two teams from each of the group (based on win/loss)  will progress to the knockouts (semifinals). The top ranked team from Group A will face the runner-up team from Group B, while the top-ranked team of Group B playing the second-ranked team of Group A. Title Contenders: Going by recent form and track record of the 10 teams in women's T20I cricket; Australia, England, India and New Zealand have been billed as the top contenders for this year's title. South Africa, who have shown signs of coming back to their best of late are the dark horses.
