Former Australian Test Cricketer Stuart MacGill Kidnapped At Gun Point In Sydney; Four Arrested

The 50-year-old former Australian Test Cricketer Stuart MacGill was allegedly confronted by a group of men, who abducted him at gun point last month in Sydney on April 14.

Former Australian Test Cricketer Stuart MacGill was abducted at gun point last month in Sydney by an alleged criminal group. The incident happened on April 14 in Sydney’s north shore but came to light later.

According to a BBC report, the local police, after a two-week long investigation, conducted raids across Sydney on Wednesday and arrested four people in connection with the incident.

The 50-year-old MacGill, who was a test spinner for the national team between 1998 and 2008, was allegedly confronted by a group of men who forcefully drove him on the city's outskirts near Belmore area and allegedly assaulted at gunpoint. Police said that MacGill was then taken to the south-west suburb of Belmore and released about an hour into his ordeal.

While MacGill is yet to make a public statement on the incident, Raptor Squad and the Public Order and Riot Squad arrested group members - aged 27, 29, 42 and 46 - who would be charged later today.

An extensive investigation is in the process. It is unclear if MacGill was known to the men who kidnapped him.

Stuart MacGill made his Test debut in 1998 and took retirement in 2008. He played 44 Test matches for Australia and three One Day Internationals. Later, Dhaka Gladiators signed him to play in the Bangladesh Premier League.
