CSK Bowler Jason Behrendorff Donates To UNICEF’s India Covid-19 Crises Project

Chennai Super Kings' latest signee, Jason Behrendorff announced that he will make a donation to the UNICEF project to help India tackle the Covid-9 pandemic. Details below.

IPL 2021: As the IPL stands suspended, Chennai Super Kings bowler Jason Behrendorff has decided to donate to the UNICEF project to help India overcome the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.

In a statement released on social media, Behrendorff wrote:

"Like most cricketers, India has been a special place to me. It's a beautiful country, the people are welcoming and playing cricket in India is like no other experience in the world. It is never lost on me how privileged I am to be able to play cricket for a living and to travel to such countries like India, no more so than in the past 16 months. It's really horrific and distressing seeing what is happening is happening at the moment here and knowing there isn't much I can do. My thoughts are never far from those here in India who are being affected by the virus. I can't imagine what you are going through.

I wanted to do something to help and am making a donation to the UNICEF project for the India Covid-19 crisis. I encourage anyone who has also experienced the generous hospitality of India to do the same," the statement by Behrendorff read.

Behrendorff was recently named as a replacement in the place of Josh Hazlewood who was injured during the course of the IPL. After spending 7 days in the mandatory quarantine, Behrendorff will have to take a flight back home after the announcement of suspending the IPL came in from the BCCI.

The decision has come after several players reported being infected with the novel Coronavirus. Earlier today, wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha of SunRisers Hyderabad camp tested positive for Covid-19. On Monday, Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and three members of the Chennai Super Kings tested positive for the Coronavirus.
