Zaheer Khan "Decodes" Jasprit Bumrah's Awkward Bowling Action

Zaheer Khan described Bumrah as a "special talent", adding that his non-conventional bowling action has worked as an advantage rather than a weakness

Ace Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has impressed the cricketing world with his lethal bowling in all three formats of the game. The star speedster returned with 13 wickets from the Test series vs West Indies, including a 'record-breaking hat-trick'. Not only that, Bumrah achieved a rare milestone of becoming the first Asian pacer to take five-wicket hauls in South Africa, England, Australia and the West Indies, besides becoming the fastest Indian fast bowler to 50 Test wickets. India's most dependable bowler had come under scanner for his non-conventional action when he began his career. However, World Cup winner Zaheer Khan described 26-year-old as a "special talent", adding that Bumrah's  non-conventional bowling action has worked as an advantage rather than a weakness. "He (Bumrah) is a special talent, he has got that awkward action which works as an advantage for him over the batsmen. He is keen to learn and drive to excel. He has been working on his fitness, adding new things to his bowling. He has evolved as a bowler in a short time, that have been the keys to success," Zaheer told PTI on Monday. "It is about how you take things into stride and what kind of approach you have. I think Bumrah has shown all the attitude of achieving that success," added the 40-year-old former pacer. When asked to comment on omission of 'KulCha' (Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal) from recent T20I home series against Proteas, Zaheer said India's approach has always been transparent when it comes to players management, adding the World T20 was still away. "They have been transparent about what their approach is. At the end of the day, we just have to wait and see how things evolve and shape up. We have plenty of time for the T20 World Cup (to be held in Australia), so we will have to wait and see how things evolve and what kind of experimentation happens," he said. "So everyone is allowed to have a thought process, we have seen with other teams as well. We have seen with England team, before the World Cup, they have been transparent about it and so is this (Indian) team."
