WTC 2023-25 Points Table After IND vs AUS 1st Test: India Reclaim Top Spot After Historic Perth Win

WTC 2023-25 Updated Points Table: Here's how the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle points table stands after India's historic win against Australia in the BGT opener at Perth.

Updated WTC 2023-2025 Points Table: India registered a historic 295-run victory in the first IND vs AUS Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at Perth. Led by Jasprit Bumrah, India put up a complete all-round performance and became the first team to beat the Aussies at Perth’s Optus Stadium. With the win, India also reclaimed the top spot on the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 points table, displacing Australia.

India, previously second on the WTC standings behind Australia, have improved their Points Percentage (PCT) following their win in the Perth Test. Standing at the PCT of 58.33% prior to the first IND vs AUS Test, India have now pusehd it to 61.11%. The victory also earned them 12 points, taking their total tally to 110 points.

In the ongoing WTC 2023-25 cycle, India have played 15 Tests, securing nine wins, five losses and one draw. To secure a spot in the WTC final without relying on other results, India need to win three of the remaining matches in the series against Australia and draw one.

Australia, on the other hand, have dropped to the second spot on the WTC standings. To secure a direct qualification for the ICC World Test Championship final without relying on other teams' results, they must win five of their remaining six Tests. This includes four matches in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy and a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka.  

India and Australia will face off next in the Day-Night pink-ball Test at the Adelaide Oval, scheduled from December 6 to 10.
