IND vs AUS 1st Test, Perth: India made history as the Jasprit Bumrah-led side defeated Australia by 295 runs in the first IND vs AUS Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 (BGT) in their own backyard at Perth’s Optus Stadium on November 25 (Monday). Chasing the target of 534, Australia put up a stronger fightback in the fourth innings than they did in the first innings, but India bowlers, led by skipper Bumrah along with Mohammed Siraj made life difficult for the Aussie batters and eventually had them bundled out for 238. With the win, India now lead the five-match Test series by 1-0.
It was an incredible all-round performance by Team India as batters and bowlers both stood out at key moments in the series-opener at Perth. After being bowled out for a mere 150 in the first innings, India's bowling attack, led by Bumrah's five-wicket haul, bundled Australia out for 104 runs, securing a crucial lead of 46 runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli Bat Australia Out Of The Match
In the second innings, India turned the match around completely as they stamped their authority in the match with the bat. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a scintillating 161-run knock and veteran Virat Kohli came back to form and scored his first Test century of this year, scoring 100 off 143 balls. With Jaiswal and Kohli's help, India posted 487-6 before declaring, setting the target of 534 for Australia.
In the fourth innings, Australia posted a stronger fightback compared to the second innings. Travis Head batted aggressively and scored 89 runs and Mitchell Marsh contributed with a 47-run knock. Alex Carey wad the last wicket to fall for the Aussies as the hosts were bundled out for 238 runs, losing by 295 runs.
This victory for Team India comes at a critical juncture, as they arrived in Australia following a 3-0 clean sweep by New Zealand on home soil. The series defeat sparked widespread criticism from both the cricket fraternity and the media, directed at the Indian team and the new management, including head coach Gautam Gambhir.
The win also marks India's biggest in Australia and they became the first team to beat Australia at Perth's Optus Stadium.
