WATCH: Shoaib Malik clatters his own stumps, sets BIZARRE record

Malik played the shot from way back in his crease and to bowler’s surprise; he clattered his own stumps, bringing a bizarre end to his fantastic innings

Former Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik reached an unwanted feat on Friday while batting against England in the 4th ODI at Trentbridge. He became the eighth batsman ever to get out hit-wicket twice in ODIs. It was a disappointing moment for Malik that occurred during the 47th over when he was batting on 41. While facing pacer Mark Wood, the veteran batsman tried attempting a late cut but it turned out to be the worst shot played by him ever. Malik played the shot from way back in his crease and to bowler’s surprise; he clattered his own stumps, bringing a bizarre end to his fantastic innings. His dismissal turned out to be an important breakthrough for the Englishmen as the guests managed to muster only 24 runs in the remaining 20 balls. Pakistan were restricted to 340 for 7. Here’s the video: As soon as the dismissal video surfaced on social media, there was no mercy shown to the senior cricketer by the people out there. Here are some of the reactions: Malik’s first hit-wicket dismissal came in 2003. Besides him, this club features greats of the game like Allan Border, Kumar Sangakkara and Misbah-ul-Haq. Talking about the game, England beat Pakistan by three wickets and the victory gave World Cup hosts and favourites England an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. England were cruising to a victory target of 341 at 201 for one when Jason Roy's dismissal for 114 sparked a collapse that saw three wickets lost for seven runs in 10 balls. But Ben Stokes's 71 not out saw England home with three balls to spare after Babar Azam made 115 in Pakistan's 340 for seven.
