WATCH: MS Dhoni affects unbelievable run-out to leave D'Arcy Short helpless

Opener D’Arcy Short was expected to carry the game forward. Unfortunately, soon he had to return to the dressing following the comedy of errors.

The Australians will surely be happy with the way they snatched victory from the jaws of India on Sunday in the first T20I at Vishakhapatnam. Chasing a paltry 128-run total, the tail-enders showed immense character to win the game by 3 wickets off the last ball.

However, there was a moment when the game completely seemed to be going India’s way. After the dismissal of Glenn Maxwell (56) in the 14th over, India got their breath back and the home crowd erupted in joy. After this major blow, opener D’Arcy Short was expected to carry the game forward. Unfortunately, soon he had to return to the dressing following the comedy of errors.

The incident happened in the 16th over when Peter Handscomb clipped away a Umesh Yadav delivery towards fine leg, hopping across the wickets. The batters successfully completed the first run but were uncertain to take the second.

But MS Dhoni was on alert as he perfectly picked up Krunal Pandya’s throw and didn’t make any mistake in dislodging the wickets.

Here’s the video:

Just as a matter of caution, he also threw the ball to the bowler, who also took a bail off. By then, Short had realized that he has left with no other option than going back. On the other hand, Handscomb looked angry at himself because the goof-up cost a throttling blow.

That was the point when India picked up the momentum and went on to dismiss three more Aussie batters until the final over when the duo of Pat Cummins and Jhye Richardson managed to steal 14 runs to take the game home.
