'We Went To Washroom, And...': Virender Sehwag Recalls Teaming Up With Sachin Tendulkar To Prank Sourav Ganguly
In a recent interview on Breakfast with Champions, Virender Sehwag revealed how he once teamed up with Sachin Tendulkar to prank Sourav Ganguly during their playing days.
Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar formed the most prolific batting partnerships for many years, especially in 50-overs format (ODIs). While Sehwag played fearless cricket, Tendulkar batted with calm and composure to anchor the team's innings. Sehwag and Sachin scored 3919 runs in 93 innings with an average of 42.13 while opening for India in ODIs. For many years, the legendary opening duo shared some memorable moments during their playing days and shared a great bond of friendship off the field as well. In a recent interview on Breakfast with Champions, Sehwag revealed how he once teamed up with Sachin Tendulkar to prank Sourav Ganguly during their playing days.
Sehwag revealed that while Sourav Ganguly was in the washroom, he and Sachin spoke about receiving new Adidas jerseys from Germany.
"Sachin Tendulkar and I were brand ambassadors for Adidas. We went to the washroom, and Sachin said, 'Let's play a prank with Dada (Sourav Ganguly)'. He asked me to just play along. Dada went in the toilet and we were standing outside," said Sehwag on Breakfast with Champions.
"He (Sachin) said, 'These T-shirts from Adidas from Germany, how good are they,' Sehwag added. "I (Sehwag) agreed saying, 'The stuff is really good'. And saying all this, we came out. Then, Dada called up Adidas, asking them to send the T-shirts from Germany, which were given to Sachin and Sehwag," he added.
Sehwag also spoke about how Sachin's 'special ability' would help him while batting.
"I used to be Sachin's gym partner. He taught me so much in life. He taught me about hardships and practice. He would predict a bowler's length and give me a cue. When asked how he know, he'd say, 'I have now played for so many years that I can predict how he is trying to get you out with a fuller length'. The next ball would be a full-length delivery only," Sehwag said.
