Mohd Shami, Bumrah Return To Indian Squad For T20 Series Against Australia And South Africa

The All-India Senior Selection Committee fielded a full-strength squad for the upcoming series, with Rohit Sharma set to lead the side.

Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel were named in the Indian sqaud for the upcoming T20 series against Australia and South Africa. The All-India Senior Selection Committee fielded a full-strength squad for the upcoming series, with Rohit Sharma set to lead the side and KL Rahul named as his deputy.

Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been rested for the series against South Africa.

Shami was overlooked for the recent Asia Cup 2022, where India put up an underwhelming performance and failed to reach the final. Mohammed Shami's absence had became a big topic of discussion among fans and experts after India's early exit from the tournament. 

However, Shami has failed to make the cut for the ICC T20 World Cup. He has been named as a standby player along with Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi and Deepak Chahar.

India will play six T20 International games against Australia and South Africa, which will serve as a dress rehearsal for the T20 World Cup Down Under. 

Mohali will host the first T20I against Australia (September 20) with Nagpur (September 23) and Hyderabad (September 25) organising the second and third respectively.

The home series against South Africa will begin in Thiruvananthapuram on September 28. The second T20I will be played on October 2 in Guwahati followed by the last game in Indore on October 4.

The ODI series against South Africa will start from October 6 in Lucknow. Ranchi and Delhi will host the second and third ODI, respectively, on October 9 and 11.

A separate team will play three 50-over games against the Proteas, with Shikhar Dhawan likely as the captain.
