T20 World Cup | 'I Feel The Bounce On The Wicket': Suryakumar Yadav Opens Up On First Practice Session In Australia

The 32-year-old batter is unstoppable ever since he made his debut for the Indian cricket team.

The Men in blue led by Rohit Sharma left for Australia on Thursday morning for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The Indian team will play two practice matches against Western Australia on October 10 and 13, followed by warm-up matches against  Australia and New Zealand before the World Cup.

The 32-year-old batter is unstoppable ever since he made his debut for the Indian cricket team. He had scored tons of runs in the Indian Premier League and as a result, he got a chance in the Indian team.  In the shortest format of the game, he is the highest run-getter in 2022 and is currently the No.2 batter in the ICC T20I rankings.

The BCCI shared a video on its Twitter handle where Surya spoke about the first training session in Australia.

"I was really looking forward to coming here and attending the first practice session, going on the ground, having a walk and run, and feeling what it is like here. The first net session was also amazing. Just wanted to feel how the pace of the wicket is, how the bounce is," said Suryakumar.

"Obviously, starting a little slow. There were butterflies and there was excitement, at the same time, you also need to see how you bring yourself into this atmosphere. I am excited but at the same time, it is important to follow your routines," he added.

The Mumbai-based batter also said, “At the time of the practice, I feel, the bounce on the wicket, the pace of the wicket, and people talk about ground dimensions in Australia. It is important to read your game plan on how to score runs on these wickets. All these things are very important. Good conditions, really looking forward."

Team India won their last two bilateral T20I series against Australia and South Africa and will play their first match against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup.
