India batter Ruturaj Gaikwad, currently in Australia for India A’s 2-match unofficial Test series, expressed frustration over a controversial dismissal in the Ranji Trophy. Despite being away, Gaikwad is closely following Maharashtra’s campaign back home. During the Maharashtra vs Services match in Pune, stand-in captain Ankit Bawne was involved in a contentious dismissal, which led Gaikwad to voice his disapproval on social media.

Ankit Bawne edged the ball to second slip, and the on-field umpire ruled in Services' favor after their appeal for a low catch. However, replays sparked a major debate, showing that the ball had hit the ground before the fielder completed the catch, a detail the umpires missed, leading to Bawne’s unfair dismissal.

Discontent with the dismissal, Gaikwad shared a slow-motion video of the incident on his Instagram story and asked, "How can this be given out in a live game???.

"Shame to even appeal for a catch. Absolutely pathetic," Gaikwad wrote in the story that he posted on his official Instagram account.

With the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy on the horizon, Gaikwad’s chances of making India’s Test squad seem slim, and he may have to wait longer for his Test debut. India A lost the first unofficial Test, with senior players like KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel joining the squad after the India vs New Zealand series. While Jurel has been impressive, Rahul has not been as successful.
