New Delhi: Kieron Pollard’s batting overpowered Samuel Badree’s hat trick as Mumbai Indians snatched a 4-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bangalore.

The West Indian all-rounder put on a 93 run match changing partnership with Krunal Pandya after Mumbai were reduced to 33 for 5 in 8 overs.

Mumbai managed to chase the target of 143 with 7 balls to spare.

Pollard silenced his critics with a scintillating knock of 70 on a slow track. Mumbai were in no man’s land after Samule Badree ripped through top order with the first hat trick of the season in the third over of the RCB innings.

Badree picked up the wicket of Parthiv (3), McClenaghan (0) and Rohit (0) to reduce Mumbai to 7 for 4. He later on came back to pick up the wicket of an in-form Nitish Rana for 11. Badree’s figures of 4 for 9 was however not enough for RCB.

Pollard, who hit three fours and five sixes in his aggressive knock looked in supreme control. He was well supported by Krunal Pandya (37), who remained unbeaten with brother Hardik to knock off the target.

Earlier, it was a disciplined bowling performance by Mumbai Indians that restricted RCB to 142. Virat Kohli smashed a 47 ball 62 on his return.
